Raija Salomaa, like all Finns of her era, grew up sewing, as sewing was part of the school curriculum all through elementary school and into middle school. However, it wasn’t until she moved to the United States that she saw her very first quilt. Fortunately, Raija received a sewing machine as her college graduation gift and it wasn’t long after that when her first attempt of making a quilt was under way.
Raija’s desire to make patterns came early on, and her first patterns were published in 2004. After a nine year hiatus, she began designing patterns full time. Raija’s quilts have appeared in a couple of quilting catalogs, as well as quilt magazines.
She is married to the love of her life, Sam, and they have two daughters. They have called Rogers their home for the past ten years.
Raija is the owner of Quilters Treasure Chest in Rogers an online shop and longarm business (www.qtcquilting.com). She has patterns, rulers and fabrics available for purchase.
