This January we celebrated our accomplishments as a guild and personal projects completed. The Dogwood Quilt Guild made 20 Honor Quilts for veterans in 2018. Also, 245 baby quilts for the nursery at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital and 50 pet quilts created for cages at our local shelter. One member made 52 baby quilts alone! That is one quilt a week!
January is a time when we celebrate UFO’s (unfinished objects). We have a common goal, it’s called our “Get R Done” list. Any project that has been started anytime before 2019 can earn a spot in our giant notebook full of pictures and descriptions of projects that we aim to complete this year. Every time a project is completed it becomes a ticket in a drawing for our January celebration for prizes and fun gifts (which may in turn become a new get r done project).
Here is Janet with one of her cozy flannel quilts, one of dozens that she creates each year for newborns.
We meet at Grace Episcopal Church the first Saturday of the month at 9:30am. Join us!
Next month, Pam from Sager Creek Quilt Shop is teaching a scrappy Pineapple class concluding our guild meeting. Bring your sewing machine, scrap strips in dark and light colors, and bring your pineapple ruler or order by January 19 at the shop. The class is free for DQG members. To become a member dues are 25$.
